I didnt stay in a hospital, here in New Zealand we have maternity clinics to stay in after giving birth and I was extremly impressed with it. The midwives there (it is run by midwives) were so kind and helpful, the food was great, and I felt me and my baby got the best possible care. I am planning to go back after having this baby and I am looking forward to it. I didnt want to leave first time around.
I would really recommend River ridge to any mother giving birth in Hamilton, New Zealand. Its free of course and really awsome to be able to bond with baby for two nights with all that extra help and care.

    me!!
everyone was soooo nice. they were always coming by just to see if i wanted something to eat or drink, to ask if i needed pain meds. i NEVER had to call the nurse, they were always there before i even needed them!
btw, i had an epidural and was induced and i LOVED my birth experience. the nurses were so supportive and made me feel like i was in control. they helped me move around since i couldnt move my legs and they made sure that i was always taken care of.
EDIT: like alyssas mommy, my hospital also had a free kitchen for family/husbands/patients. they also ALWAYS gave 2 meals at meal time, 1 for mommy 1 for daddy/boyfriend/parent/whoever was staying with you. most hospitals dont feed your husband, so that was very nice! they also just renovated the hospital i delivered at so the rooms were VERY nice. hardwood floors, flat screen tvs, brand new couches and gliders, hardwood basinettes and beds.
i delivered at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL

    hi
yes I have had one amazing hospital stay (out of 8)! it was wonderful but it just so happened that I decided on my last pregnancy that I was gonna switch hospitals and glad I did! the doctors and nurses were so nice and helpful, also after the birth they brought a special moms and dads menu, it was unbelievable, it went anywhere from cheeseburgers to t-bone steaks! also while I was staying there they have volunteers who come in and give you free mags and cookies and just about anything you ask for. I know I am going on and on but also instead of my hubby sleeping on the couch, the couches were actually pull out beds. he was so happy after sleeping on couches or in chairs for the last 7 births! lol. anyways I believe that is very important for a new mother ( no matter how many kids you have in my mind everytime you deliver a baby you are still a new mother!) to have all the comforts she needs! and same for the partner!

Lucky my hospital was horrible, the nurses where either beeeoches, and made me seem like i was retarted and didnt know wut i was talking about, or they where new, i had 3 nurses come in to try and put the IV in me.
also when ever i wanted to sleep after i had my son, they would leave the lights on.
and i had to ask them like 5 times if i could PLEASE have some towels in my bathroom.
    i had a horrible 3 days there.
also one of my nurses kept glareing at me too.

I had a wonderful time at my hospital. They have new, all private birthing suites. They had a free kitchen on the floor for husbands to eat from, they had nice beds for the husbands… they had nice beds for the babies. Everyone on the delivery floor was delightful and the people on the recovery floor were mostly nice.

Me!!! I had heard some horror stories at the hospital that i gave birth at but i didn’t really have another option. They were amazing to me and my husband and my baby!! They made sure we had everything before we left and even called to follow up a week after we left!

The doctor and delivery nurse were great but the nurses and people I dealt with in the 2 days following the birth were awful. They were rude, rough, never smiled or looked me in the eye and just basically acted like they had better things to do than be there.
